Privacy Policy
All 4 Pathways is an independent academic guidance service run by Nick Brisson in Ottawa, Ontario. We take the privacy of students and families seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and how we protect it, in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Who is responsible
Nick Brisson is responsible for privacy. Please use our contact form to reach Nick.
2. What we collect
- Contact details: parent or guardian and student names, email and phone number
- Student information: grade, school, courses, marks, report cards, transcripts, interests, goals and post-secondary plans
- Information about learning needs or accommodations (such as an IEP), only if a family chooses to share it
- Aptitude and interest inventory results
- Session notes and the plans we prepare
- Booking and payment records
- Basic technical information from website visits (such as browser type and pages visited), collected by our website hosting provider
3. Why we collect it
We use personal information only to respond to inquiries and book sessions, provide our services and prepare plans, send reminders and follow-ups, process payments and keep financial records, and meet legal obligations. We never sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for any other purpose without your consent.
4. Consent
We collect information with your consent. Because we work with high school students, a parent or guardian gives consent when booking services, and we also ask students to agree to take part. Students 18 or older may consent for themselves. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 10), although this may mean we can no longer provide services.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only:
- With service providers we use to run the business: email and document storage, video calls, online scheduling, website hosting and payment processing. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- With schools, institutions, referees or others, only when you ask us to or give permission
- When required by law. For example, if we believe a child may be in need of protection, we are legally required to report it to a children's aid society.
6. Storage outside Canada
Some of our service providers store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. Information stored there may be subject to that country's laws, including access by its authorities.
7. How we protect it
Accounts are password-protected with two-step verification, access is limited to Nick Brisson, and documents are shared only through secure accounts, never public links. If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected families and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by law.
8. How long we keep it
- Student documents, session notes and plans: up to 12 months after your last session, then securely deleted, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or keep them longer
- Financial records: 6 years, as required by the Canada Revenue Agency
- Inquiries that don't lead to services: deleted within 12 months
9. Emails
We send service emails about bookings, reminders and your plan. We send newsletters or promotional emails only with your consent, and each one includes an unsubscribe link, as required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
10. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you or your child, correct it, delete it or withdraw your consent. Use our contact form and we will respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
11. Cookies
Our website may use basic cookies needed for it to work. We do not use advertising cookies. If we add website analytics, we will update this policy.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
